“Here's my take: this place strikes a rare balance, running as both a gourmet restaurant and a proper country pub, which is interesting. The focus on locally sourced meats, even having an in-house butcher, signals a commitment to quality that extends beyond the usual. I think it's a solid pick for travelers seeking both comfort and a genuine taste of the Scottish countryside.”

Guests frequently praise the Meikleour Arms for its spacious and beautifully renovated rooms, some located in coach houses or cottages a short drive from the pub, with luxurious bathrooms. The restaurant is a highlight, with many saying they rarely eat so well, and the breakfast even includes homemade ketchup. Charming Getaway!

warm roomcomfortable staffcosy hotelriver walks
The room was very warm and comfortable. I slept soundly. All staff were very friendly, courteous, and efficient. The hotel had a lovely wood burning stove. It felt very cosy. Walks to the river and woods are directly accessible from the hotel.
The dining room lights were a bit too bright for a relaxed evening atmosphere.
Service
9/10
Staff members were helpful and went the extra mile to ensure a great stay. Mandy, Grace, and Victoria served as excellent tourist information sources! They are an asset to the hotel.
Dining

The restaurant food was excellent, and I appreciated that everything was made from scratch. Breakfast was a good selection and I enjoyed the evening meal. I did observe a Spanish waitress being very friendly.

underwhelming experience

muddy carparkthin soup
the carpark was muddy. it had many lakes when i arrived on that cold, wet afternoon. my room was across the carpark. it was also up a flight of stairs, i was not happy about it. the restaurant was busy, but the food was not great at all. the soup was thin, and the kedgeree had too much chilli in it. sadly, i was a bit underwhelmed with both dinner and breakfast.

wonderful stay

comfortable bedshigh quality linenlow beams
the hotel is lovely with beautiful decor and furniture. the rooms were amazing and the beds are very comfortable. linens were high quality and the location is fine with autumn sunshine.
i stayed with a group of friends. i stayed in 'hortense', a very poor room with low beams. painting 'please mind your head' on them is of little use.
