Marathon Hotel possibly is the oldest in continual operation in Canada, originally built over a century ago by a retired sea captain. The Inn consists of other buildings being moved to the current location and added to the original building by walkways. The establishment has been owned by nine people since its opening. The buildings that comprise the Marathon Inn are among the more eclectic on the island. The inn consists of three large buildings joined together with covered walkways. The island has a number of craftsmen and artist inspired by the scenery, wildlife, and peaceful environment. The Main House is in the Second Empire Style. Character-defining elements include square three-story massing. The Annex features lateral rectangular three-story massing. Many of the original furnishings are still in use and free Wi-Fi access is featured throughout. Shared kitchen is available.
