“In my opinion, this is an ideal coastal escape within a working lighthouse, appealing to those seeking quietude and natural beauty. The location guarantees striking views and immediate access to rugged coastal walks. I think the commitment to Galloway's fresh local produce elevates the dining experience, making it a culinary destination as much as a scenic one.”

Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel enjoys a superb location, offering tranquility, amazing sea views, and photographic opportunities that many guests appreciate. The restaurant receives high praise, particularly the excellent food menu and splendid meals, with the half-board option being a must-do for some. While a few guests have noted some shabbiness with peeling paintwork, the hotel's charm and unique lighthouse setting, sometimes in a cottage beside the lighthouse, consistently draw visitors back for another stay.

underwhelming stay at lighthouse

remote locationpeeling paintold carpet
the location was remote, as i had expected.
the condition of the place let me down. the room seemed quite run down, the carpet looked old, and the bathroom needed some work. i saw some paint peeling in the hallway, it gives a feeling of neglect.

the chef came out to speak to the guests. they discussed the food and ideas for future menus. local beers from sulwath were available rather than standard options, a definite bonus.

lighthouse love!

tasty kipperslocal beerefficient work
wow, this lighthouse stay just blew me away! the food was excellent, a real highlight, i even had a hearty breakfast with tasty kippers. i really appreciate local beers from sulwath available at the bar, they are great.
The road to get there was a bit bumpy. I hope they fix it soon!
Facilities
9/10
wifi works well throughout the hotel, that is great to stay connected. i also noticed a selection of lighthouse pictures and photographs available for purchase near the reception area. it shows the owner's interest in photography.
Dining
10/10
The chef created a five-course dinner with fresh, local ingredients that tasted delicious. the portions were just right. I was full but not stuffed. alcohol drinks are also reasonably priced, that is good to know.

excellent sea viewsmissing shelvescold shower
The location provided excellent views of the sea. The scenery was beautiful.
The room lacked necessary amenities such as a place to hang clothes and a bedside table. This was inconvenient. the bathroom was also subpar with no hooks or shelves, and the shower had cold water. these issues detracted from the overall experience.
