Location and Essentials
Volcano Hotel is in Mýrdalur valley, beneath the Katla glacier volcano, just off Iceland's main road. The striking black stone flooring is made from volcanic material taken from the area's black-sand beaches, almost spilling inside the small lobby, where the floors are made of the same onyx material. The hotel is 12 km west of Vík, where guests can find a gas station, swimming pool, a small shop, restaurants, an information center, and an ATM. The Skógarfoss waterfalls are west along the coast. Expect just under a three-hour drive to Keflavik International Airport.
Services and Amenities
Volcano Hotel has a shared lounge. Coffee is available in the lounge. The parking lot has black volcanic gravel.
“What stands out here is the warmth; expect a personalized welcome and attentive service. The location, just off the main road in Mýrdalur valley, provides easy access to attractions like Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. I appreciate the volcano-themed decor and the focus on local ingredients in the breakfast.”
