The Copley Suite occupies the south wing's top floor, featuring a king-size four-poster bed and a bathroom with a circular bath, overhead drench shower, two sinks, a dressing table, and a lounging settee. The Annex includes 13 King or Twin en-suite bedrooms. Apartments in the Annex offer options with two or three bedrooms, an open living area with a dining table, settee, TV, sink, and fridge. Some rooms at the rear of the Annex offer countryside views. Amenities include super king-size beds convertible to twin en-suites, solid oak doors and floors, walk-in wet rooms, and flat-screen TVs. All rooms provide free WiFi. Pets are allowed in designated rooms for £10 per dog per night (maximum two dogs).

Diverse Dining Options

Gosforth Hall features four dining areas: a 36-seat restaurant, bar, lounge, and a Mediterranean-style beer garden. The menu includes pub classics such as Chicken Melts, Burgers, Fajitas, Lasagne, Rib Eye Steaks, and homemade Pies. Local and seasonal produce is used where possible. Daily specials, winter stews, game casseroles, and homemade curries are offered. Puddings range from apple pie and custard to sticky toffee pudding and cherry pancakes. A hearty Cumbrian breakfast is freshly made to order using local ingredients including quality butcher's sausage and bacon. Guests can enjoy fine wines and a large selection of gins with premium tonics. The bar serves food daily and welcomes families and dogs. Three or four different ales are available at any one time.

Guests can engage in activities around the Western Lake District. Options include paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking, ghyll scrambling, canyoning, climbing, and mountain biking in Wasdale and Eskdale Valleys. “Gosforth Hall Inn, with its 17th-century origins and recent updates, strikes me as a comfortable base for exploring the Western Lake District, especially for those with dogs. The blend of historic character and practical amenities, like the Mediterranean-style beer garden and varied dining options, creates a welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by its proximity to Scafell Pike and other outdoor attractions. It's the kind of place where you can settle in after a day of hiking and feel a genuine connection to the local area.”
