Loch Melfort Hotel offers rooms in the main house, including two suites, and lodge sea-view rooms. Dining: Local Ingredients

The main restaurant offers views and a relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen sources ingredients from local Argyll suppliers and also seeks farmers who undertake the close cycle system, where the animals are born and bred on the farm never leaving until ready for the abattoir ensuring ingredients are fresh. The menu includes Loch Fyne smoked salmon spiced with cucumber, celery, radish, shallots, cress, and a lemon emulsion, plus roast halibut fillet laced with truffle-scented mash and thyme fondue. The hotel aims to provide interesting wines that remain well priced, looking ideally for family-owned producers whose wines reflect the traditions of their district rather than the requirements of large retailers. Oban is on hand with seafood restaurants and a glorious seafood shack on the pier, where ferries tempt for day trips to the isles.

Grounds and Wildlife

Loch Melfort features 17 acres of grounds with access to the coast and hills. The grounds has its own goats - Bramble and Thistle and Highland Cattle - Campbell, MacDonald and Dougal - who keep the grass well cropped and fertilized in the fields. Wildlife, including seals, otters, herons, and marine birds, can be seen in the sea. A bird feeder in front of the dining room attracts bird varieties. The hotel is located near the National Trust for Scotland Arduaine Garden. The hotel has a beneficial influence on the environment as new installations provide a carbon saving of over 76 tonnes per year, the equivalent to boiling over 3 million kettles.
