Rooms and Cottages
Forss House features 19 bedrooms in the main house, fishing lodges, and cottages. Radclyffe Bedrooms in the main house have super-king-size beds, seating areas, and marble bathrooms with his and her sinks. Master Bedrooms are available in the main house with garden views, or in the River House with patio doors opening to the woods; River House rooms have super-king-size beds or twin beds, wardrobe space, and bathrooms with showers. Classic Bedrooms in the main house have oversized headboards and bathrooms. Fishing Lodge bedrooms, near the main house, have super-king-size or twin beds and storage space. Miller's Cottage offers ground-floor and first-floor accommodations, each with a king-size bed. The ground-floor cottage has a farmhouse-style bathroom with a copper roll-top bath; the first-floor cottage has a living area and a bathroom with a shower. Kiln House is a three-story house with a living area, two single rooms, a family-sized bathroom with a bath-shower, and a bedroom with a king-size bed.
Dining at Forss House
The restaurant at Forss House is the only 2 AA Rosette restaurant in Caithness. Breakfast is served Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 9:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 to 10:00. Dinner is served daily from 18:00 to 20:30 (with seasonal variations). The restaurant offers a tasting menu. Sample dishes include Scrabster-landed scallops, beetroot carpaccio, braised ox cheek, and filo meuille feuille. The bar is open from 15:00 to 23:00, serving a selection of Scotland's whiskies. Afternoon tea is served Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 13:00 to 14:30, including finger sandwiches, cakes, and scones with jam and clotted cream.
Leisure and Activities
Forss House Hotel is located 200 yards from the River Forss, offering salmon fishing. Rods can be booked by the day or week on the Forss, Thurso, Halladale and Naver rivers.
