Review summary

Based on recent reviews

Altstadt Hotel enjoys a superb location, perfect for exploring Zurich's must-see spots and within walking distance of the central train station, although Tram 4 stops just a minute away for convenience. Many guests appreciate the spacious and bright classic rooms, often featuring a large bathroom with a bathtub. Some have noted that rooms can get warm, particularly in summer, and noise may be a factor with the windows open. However, the proximity to a beautiful church, just a 2-minute walk, and the delightful cafe on the ground floor offering cakes and toasted sandwiches make for a pleasant stay.

smooth process friendly staff spacious room basic breakfast limited options boiled eggs

the check-in and check-out processes were very smooth. the staff were friendly and professional, a detail i appreciate. our double (classic) room was spacious with a nice sized bathroom. there was a bathtub and an in-built shower too.

the breakfast was basic during my week stay. there was either musli with joghurt or bread with ham and cheese. the only hot items available were boiled eggs, though they were steamed upon arrival. it would be nice to see a bit more variety.

adequate but underwhelming stay

loose shower head non-functional outlets

the hotel's location was quite good as a base for exploring.

the room felt smaller than expected and lacked air conditioning , made it uncomfortable i also noticed some wear and tear in the bathroom the shower head was loose and some of the electrical outlets did not work properly this impacted the overall experience and made the stay less enjoyable i found a wet wipe left behind by previous guests too
