The Western enjoys a superb central location in St Ives, placing guests within easy reach of the beach, harbour, cinema, Co-op, and various restaurants. Guests appreciate the spacious family rooms and lovely studio rooms equipped with kitchenettes and sofas; the inclusion of breakfast is also a highlight. While some guests noted the dated decor and small bathrooms, the hotel provides comfortable beds and thoughtful touches like fans. Moreover, the hotel is conveniently situated near a bus stop for exploring Lands End and Penzance, with a 24-hour car park nearby.

the location is great, just 4 minutes from both the harbour and the bus station. the breakfast room was modern and offered a great full english breakfast with cereals and yogurts. the bed in my double room provided a great night's sleep. it was a very quiet room and i did not hear other guests.
the bar had entertainment only on friday, none on saturday. the staff who ran the bar also managed reception and would disappear.

Acceptable Stay with Noticeable Shortcomings

tiny room small bathroom
The breakfast met my expectations. It was quite acceptable.
I found the room quite small, barely enough space to move around. The bathroom was even tinier. The sink was really just a hand basin. I had difficulty finding space for my toiletries and other items.

decent stay overall

warm smile attentive service good recommendation odd setup absent receptionist lift installation
izzy welcomed me after my long drive. she was very hospitable, great. izzy was also professional and attentive behind the bar. she always had good recommendations.
the front desk setup is odd, i must say. there is never a human at the front desk. i don't know how older people access their rooms because there is no lift installation.

Satisfactory Stay with Minor Issues

food quality easy beach access large ensuite unattended reception lift installation mobility issue
The breakfast had good variety and the food tasted nice. The location was also great. I could easily walk to different beaches. The family room was clean and suitably sized with a large ensuite.
The front desk seemed unattended often. There was only a phone to call someone. I found that quite odd since I usually expect someone at the desk. I also think the hotel needs a lift. I don't know how guests with mobility issues access their rooms.
