Landmarks in Northwest
Waldorf Astoria Washington DC is in Northwest, near Smithsonian museums and the White House. The hotel, a reimagined Old Post Office, sits on Pennsylvania Avenue between The White House and the U.S. Capitol near National Mall museums, the Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial. The Old Post Office clock tower houses the Congress Bells, a Bicentennial gift from England.
Rooms and Suites
The hotel has 263 guest rooms and suites. Rooms feature flat-screen TVs with cable channels, mini-bars, tea and coffee makers, and safe deposit boxes. Suites offer city views, seating areas, executive desks, and marble bathrooms with glass-enclosed showers. Some suites include separate living rooms, dining areas for six, private studies with executive desks, and fitness areas. The Waldorf Townhouse Suite, the largest in Washington D.C., has a private entrance onto Pennsylvania Avenue, a dining room that seats 16, and a pantry/kitchen area with a butler entrance. Signature Suites include the Presidential One Bedroom Suite, located in the original office of the U.S. Postmaster General, showcasing USPS symbols carved into the window cornices, fireplace, and crown moldings.
Dining Experiences
Peacock Alley, set in the grand atrium, features dishes prepared with luxury and refinement and is open from 6:30 am - 11 pm. The Bazaar by José Andrés offers a sensory culinary adventure. Sushi Nakazawa features an 'omakase' menu composed of Nigiri sushi with fish and shellfish sourced globally, especially from Japan. Premium Afternoon Tea is available with bone china ceramics and a complimentary bottle of champagne. In-room dining is available 24 hours.
Events and Weddings
Waldorf Astoria Washington DC has 38,000 square feet of event space. The column-free Ballroom accommodates up to 1,300 guests for standing receptions and has a separate entrance on 11th Street with nine event rooms located on the floor above. The Lincoln Library, originally the meeting room for Washington, D.C.'s Postal Headquarters, features bookcases with literature on Abraham Lincoln. The Franklin Study has access to the outdoor Benjamin Terrace with views of Pennsylvania Avenue and the statue of Benjamin Franklin.
Spa and Amenities
The Waldorf Astoria Spa has six treatment rooms, a Himalayan Salt Therapy Room, and The Sanctuary, a relaxation area with private resting cocoons and a serenity fountain. The fitness center has Technogym cardio and strength-training equipment. Clock Tower offers 360-degree views of the city. Hotel amenities include connecting rooms, smoke-free rooms, streaming TV, an onsite restaurant, a fitness center, a business center, and meeting rooms. Other amenities include ironing facilities, heating, air conditioning and tea and coffee facilities.
“The restored Old Post Office now houses a luxury hotel with a unique sense of place and a Michelin-starred restaurant; the location provides direct access to major national sites, adding to its appeal for leisure and business. Extensive event spaces and spa facilities, including Himalayan salt therapy, define its capacity for both grand occasions and personal rejuvenation. In my view, this property truly stands out.”
