Vintage Hotel Rooms
Volcano House, the only hotel inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site, offers accommodations ranging from guest rooms to cabins and campsites. Standard rooms (256 sq ft) can host between 1 and 4 guests and feature either 1 king or 2 queen beds. Volcano Crater View Rooms offer views of the Halema'uma'u crater. Deluxe Volcano Crater View Rooms include the option of 1 king or 1 king bed with 1 full or 1 twin sofa bed. Rooms have signature bath amenities, complimentary Wi-Fi, a coffee maker with local coffee, and an in-room safe. Bathrooms include free toiletries, a telephone, and an iPad. Note: the hotel does not have elevators. There are no televisions in the rooms; board games, card games, iPads, and a lending library are available at the front desk. Guests can also use bicycles for free.
Onsite Dining Options
Volcano House has two restaurants: The Rim and Uncle George's Lounge. The Rim serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and features dishes made with freshly caught fish, grass-fed beef, and vegetables. The Rim's breakfast buffet with omelette and waffle station is available to non-guests. Uncle George's Lounge is a bar that offers local and domestic beers, signature cocktails, wines, and views of the Kilauea volcano crater. The Lounge has a fireplace. Kilauea restaurant and bar is where you can catch the big game. In-room dining is available from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and includes specialty pizza delivery and local juices.
Camping and Cabins
The Namakanipaio Campground, three miles from Volcano House, features 10 rustic, one-room wooden cabins. The cabins are ideal for visitors seeking a camping experience without setting up a tent. The campground also offers 16 campsites among eucalyptus trees. Site rental is $15.00 per night. Tent rental is available for $40.00 per night, per tent (up to 2 tents). Each cabin has a basic barbeque grill. The campsite provides soap and toilet paper. The hotel offers the full ' camping big island ' experience for two by renting a tent inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
