Rooms

The Villa Convento offers suites, balcony rooms, loft rooms, and courtyard queen rooms. Suites, located on the fourth floor of the main house, feature a king-size bed, TV, and a sitting room with a daybed; they provide views of the river and the Vieux Carre rooftops. Balcony rooms offer views of Ursulines Street. Loft rooms, situated on the third floor in the courtyard, are split-level and include a staircase to a loft with three twin-size beds, plus a king-size bed on the lower level. Courtyard queen rooms are bright and airy, with views of the courtyard. Multi-bed rooms are also available, offering either a Queen and Twin bed in the main house or a Queen and Full bed with a courtyard view. All rooms include A/C, heat, a full bath, windows, cable TV, an iron and board, a hairdryer, an alarm clock, and free Wi-Fi.

Location

Located in the French Quarter, Hotel Villa Convento is a block from Bourbon Street and four blocks from the live music scene on Frenchmen Street. The Mississippi River is one block away, and the French Market and Cafe Du Monde are within a 5-minute walk. The Ursulines Convent, one of the oldest buildings in the Mississippi River valley, is next to the hotel. Hotel Villa Convento is 15 km from New Orleans Lakefront and 2.5 km from Union.

History

Hotel Villa Convento is rumored to be the legendary House of the Rising Sun. Built around 1833, the building retains its original charm with 25 rooms reflecting Old New Orleans and the Vieux Carre. Jimmy Buffett filmed a documentary on his early life in New Orleans in Apt 305. The Campo family purchased the hotel in 1983 and continue to offer old world charm with desk service staffed by family and long time friends.
