“The Old Rectory - Brean strikes me as a solid choice for families seeking a low-key beach holiday, especially with the self-contained rooms that offer a bit more privacy. The children's playground and proximity to Brean Beach are definite pluses, and I appreciate the pet-friendly vibe, even with some restrictions. What stands out most is the blend of traditional B&B charm with practical amenities near the Somerset coast.”

Guests often appreciate the Old Rectory's dog-friendly atmosphere, with comfortable chalet rooms available, some noting the convenience of cutlery and plates provided for takeaway. Its location is ideal, with just a short walk to a large, sandy beach near St Bridgets Church. The breakfast in the conservatory receives high praise, especially the full English option, though some guests have felt the service could be more attentive. The garden is also a lovely space for enjoying lunch or breakfast outdoors.

A Grateful Stay

larger roomearly parkingsuper clean roomdifficult thermostat
We received a kind upgrade to a larger room upon our arrival. Staff allowed us to park early before check-in, letting us access the room immediately. The room was super clean and well-located on the ground floor. We also found the fresh smelling sheets and the complimentary toiletries appreciated..
The double fitted wall panel seemed difficult to manage. Adjusting the thermostat often led to overheating or a return to cold temperatures. It could benefit from clearer instructions for use.

I really appreciated the family running the place. They were so helpful. my room faced the play area, a bonus for my daughter. breakfast was very good, and the beach was just a short trip away. we hope to return next summer. we appreciated the efficient room service lady.
The strong smell of bleach in my room was unpleasant. It stayed there the entire time. the shower tray also showed damage. light came in from dawn because of the thin curtains on the patio doors.

The staff were very helpful. They allowed us to leave our luggage securely until our taxi arrived later.
The room was small. The shower was also quite small and felt very dated, it needs some attention.

The breakfast had a great choice of full English and other hot options. Cereals and toast were available, too. I appreciate that the rooms were serviced each day (very helpful). The rooms were clean and freshly decorated.
The shower tray was badly damaged. The curtains across the patio doors were too thin. Light came in at dawn. There was a strong smell of bleach in the room, which remained the entire time.
