Rooms and Suites

Salt Lick Safari Lodge has two suites and 60 rooms. Rooms have double, twin, or triple beds. All rooms include en-suite bathrooms with showers and WC, running hot and cold water, and 240V power. Each room offers a private balcony with views of Taita Hills and the surrounding sanctuary. Rooms also feature tea and coffee makers and a safe deposit box. Rooms have mosquito netting and a ceiling fan.

Dining Options

The Bura Restaurant seats 150 people and serves buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Live cooking stations prepare dishes featuring Pan-African, Pan-European, and Pan-Asian cuisines. The salad buffet has fresh ingredients and herbs from the resort's garden. The bar and shaded terrace above Bura Restaurant overlook the waterhole.

Activities and Amenities

Guests can enjoy game drives in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Rangers guide night game drives to see animals like hyenas, mongoose, jackals, civets, genets, porcupines, and bush babies. Visit the Afya Bora Spa at Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa for massages, facials, and body treatments. There is a free-form swimming pool available at the Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa, and a curio shop. Also available are heritage tours of World War 1.

Location and Transport

Salt Lick Safari Lodge is in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, near the Eastern Arc Range of Mountains. The Madaraka Express train takes 2 hours 41 minutes from Nairobi to Mtito Andei, followed by a 2 hour 18 minute drive to the lodge. The lodge is a 3-hour drive from Mombasa and a 6-hour drive from Nairobi. Guests can book a one hour flight from Nairobi or 30 minutes from Mombasa by private charter to the lodge's airstrip.

Guest Services

The lodge provides trained rangers for walking safaris. Rangers are knowledgeable about birding, bushcraft, and local flora and fauna. Bush breakfast, sundowners, and dinners can be arranged at various sites. Venue decoration is available. Soft drinks are provided during meals. Therapists offer treatments at the Afya Bora Spa.
