Wellness: Fitness center and outdoor pool

“This hotel strikes me as a practical choice for business, placing guests near the airport and major tech hubs, but some experiences seem inconsistent. I note its sizeable event spaces and varied dining, including a 24-hour spot, plus a rooftop lounge with Chennai views; however, aspects of service and hidden costs seem to require improvement. For a traveller prioritizing location and facilities, further investigation may be warranted.”

Review summary

Based on recent reviews

Guests often appreciate the spacious rooms at Ramada Plaza Chennai, which some find even better than those in other well-known hotel chains. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport and the Little Mount metro station, offering easy access to the city and attractions like the zoo. The rooftop swimming pool is a highlight for many, and the breakfast, featuring soft idli and crispy vada, receives high praise. However, a few guests have noted issues with hot water in the bathrooms, which didn't meet their expectations.

Decent Stay with Some Issues

broken toilet poor housekeeping

My room had a broken toilet flush and the problem was not addressed despite my repeated requests. The housekeeping service was poor and did not meet expectations for a hotel of this price. I also noticed a bug on a dish at the breakfast buffet, a concern I raised with the manager. Loud music from the bar downstairs was audible even on the sixth floor.

Wonderful hospitality and efficient service

efficient staff quick housekeeping good selection

The front desk staff were efficient. Kulu, the Duty Manager, was helpful and offered a complimentary room upgrade at check-in. Housekeeping was quick to respond to our needs, and breakfast had a good selection. I especially want to thank Anjli, Sandeep, and Sanhita for prioritizing guest requests and always greeting me with a smile at Buffet Square (the bellman helped us weigh our luggage).

I noticed that some of the equipment in the gym looked a bit worn.

Rooms

9/10

The standard king room included a comfortable bed, a proper desk, and effective air conditioning. The room was quiet, which helped a lot with work (and relaxation). I had a good night's rest every night.

Facilities

The rooftop pool provided a refreshing morning swim. It is a great way to start the day. Breakfast offered many choices, including both Indian and continental options, a great thing for international travelers. The hotel is located a convenient distance from the airport. It is easy to access transportation.

Location

9/10

The hotel location provides convenient access to IIT Madras. The hotel's location offers a quiet escape from the busy streets. This balance of accessibility and tranquility suited my travel needs quite well.
