Authentic Japanese Experience

convenient shuttlekaiseki dinneronsen bathsea view
The hotel provided a convenient shuttle bus service to the ferry terminal. This made access to the mainland EASY. The traditional Kaiseki dinner served in my room included staff explanations of each dish. A GREAT onsen bath with excellent water temperature was available. The spacious, super clean room had tatami beds and beautiful sea views.
The hotel has interiors that look somewhat dated.
Facilities
9/10
The hotel offers a dedicated shuttle service to and from the ferry port, with easy access to the island's attractions. I also noticed an on-site Onsen with varying temperature controls, great for relaxation. THERE is a gift shop selling local crafts.

unpleasant odorlong walk
The hotel had a pervasive, unpleasant odor. It seemed to permeate the entire building, including the rooms. The location required a significant walk to the village and temple (about 30 minutes), a considerable distance (especially in warm weather) (I had to walk under the sun!). The walk was very exhausting for me.

tired decorhot onsen water
I anticipated a flawless stay but encountered some issues. The hotel was quite dated. The decor felt tired. Even small upgrades, such as newer towels, would help. The sea view from the room included a view of boats and a small seawall, which wasn't ideal. The onsen water was too hot to enter, a real disappointment.

An Authentic Ryokan Experience

evening mealluggage assistancehelpful stafftraditional stay
The staff helped us with our luggage upon arrival. They delivered our evening meal right to our room. Then, staff came in to prepare our beds for the night. The staff picked us up from the information center at the ferry pier, a very nice service.
The hotel is a little dated, I must admit, and could benefit from some minor updates to towels and decor.
Rooms

Our room included tatami mats and provided seating close to the floor, perfect for immersing ourselves in the local culture. The provided yukatas added to the traditional feel. The sea view from the room was quite a treat and added value to our stay.
Facilities
10/10
The hotel offers a shuttle bus service to the ferry terminal, which runs regularly and upon request. There is a serene onsen on site and I found its temperature very pleasant. This onsen provided relaxation.
Dining
9/10
Dinner consisted of delicious kaiseki cuisine served in the room. Breakfast offered sufficient variety, a great way to start your day. The staff paid careful attention to detail in meal preparation, so special.
