The George Hotel is believed dating back to at least as far as 1423. It was one of the major coaching inns between London and the West Country in the 18th century. Original features are in the main entrance. This old coaching Inn retains some old features. The design uses a corner building. The Mercure George Hotel is considered the oldest building in Reading.
“Occupying Reading's oldest building near the Oracle shopping centre, this hotel distinguishes itself with a characterful design that nods to its history as a coaching inn. I found the on-site dining, featuring both Italian cuisine and classic British fare, particularly appealing, along with the recently refurbished LV Lounge & Bar. Though some rooms might feel compact, the overall experience balances historical charm with contemporary comfort.”
