Mantaray Island Resort, located in Nanuya Balavu Island, offers accommodations from budget-friendly Paradise Dorm to newly built luxury Villas. The adults-only villas are freestanding beachfront units with sunrise views and house reef access. Each villa has an open-plan layout, a king bed, and a Fijian-style lounge bure. Beachfront Villas feature a sitting room, open-air bathroom, and air-conditioning. Family Reef Bures are near the water's edge. Reef Bures include a landscaped outdoor shower and ensuite with a flush toilet. Tree House Bures feature large louvered windows. Paradise Dorm has 32 air-conditioned beds. Exclusive villas include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, louvered windows, a deck with outdoor seating, tea/coffee facilities, a mini-fridge, a wardrobe, reading lights, and power points. Amenities include linen, towels, daily room service, bathrobes, beach towels, coffee/tea facilities, and Wi-Fi in communal areas. Sunrise Beachfront Villas accommodate up to 4 people with a queen bed and two sofa beds, a private patio, a sitting room, an outdoor-style bathroom with a tropical rain shower, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, louvred windows, tea/coffee facilities, a bar fridge, a wardrobe, power points, bathroom toiletries, a hairdryer, an in-room safe, and easy access to the house reef.
Dining at Mantaray Resort
Mantaray Island Resort's menu includes continental buffet breakfasts, a la carte lunches, three-course a la carte dinners, and specialty buffet evenings. The resort uses fresh ingredients, locally caught fish, and seasonal tropical fruit. Vegetarian dishes and special dietary needs can be accommodated upon request. Continental buffet breakfasts, served between 8am-10am daily, include cereals, milk, toast, fried eggs, fruit, pancakes, tea, coffee, and juice. A la carte lunches, served between 12pm-2pm daily, include fish and chips or a manta burger to tuna salad. A la carte dinners, served between 6:30pm-8:30pm daily, offer Fijian dishes alongside European, Indian, and Asian cuisine. One night a week, a traditional Fijian lovo is prepared. Romantic dinners for two on the beachfront are available with 24 hours' notice. Desserts include pumpkin pudding. The beach bar has a wood-fired pizza oven. Chips and nuts are available for purchase at the bar. Local cocktails, wine, and Fiji beer are offered.
Leisure and Activities
Mantaray Island Resort offers activities, including basket weaving, coconut craft, kayaking, and island trekking. Paid activities start from FJD $65 per person and include swimming with manta rays, guided snorkeling, village visits, sunset tube cruises, and hand line fishing. The Open Water Dive Course is FJD $995, including 2 dives a day for 3 days, completing 6 dives in total. SSI dive courses are available. The resort offers the wreck dives in the Yasawa Islands, located three minutes from Mantaray Island Resort. Manta Dive offers intro dives and certification courses to kids over 12 years. Additional activities include the Mantaray Island Sunset Tube Cruise and Handline Fishing Charters on Bubbles. A day spa offers massages and beauty treatments.
Location and Transfers
Mantaray Island Resort is located in the Yasawa Islands. Island transfers can be arranged by high-speed catamaran, seaplane, or helicopter. The Yasawa Flyer, operated by Awesome Adventures, departs daily from Port Denarau Marina at 08.45am and reaches Mantaray Island Resort at 11.30am. The standard fare is FJD209 per adult and FJD136 per child one way. The Captain's lounge, available for FJD254 per adult and FJD165 per child one way, includes coffee, tea, snacks, soft drinks, beer, wine, and free WiFi. Fiji is located in the South Pacific Ocean, 2000km north-east of New Zealand and 3200km from Sydney, Australia. Most guests fly to Nadi on the west coast of Viti Levu.
Services and Island Life
Mantaray Island Resort is associated with Soso Village on Naviti Island, the largest Fijian village in the Yasawa Islands. A donation is made to the village for each visitor. A Fijian church service at Soso Village is available for FJD $3 per person. A cooking class features traditional Fiji recipes each Monday and Thursday. Bon fire nights are held on the beach weekly. Odourless self-composting toilets and a desalination plant are used to protect the environment. The resort provides complimentary use of kayaks, with guided kayak trips available. Village visits are available for FJD $3 per person.
