Hemingways Watamu features rooms with en-suite bathrooms and private balconies that offer views of the Indian Ocean. Ocean View rooms are located in the North Wing on the ground and first floors. Deluxe Ocean View rooms, situated on the top floor of the North Wing, include marble tiled en-suite bathrooms. One-Bedroom Ocean View apartments provide a master bedroom with a marble tiled en-suite bathroom, a living and dining area, and a kitchen. Two-Bedroom Ocean View apartments include a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a second twin bedroom with adjoining bathroom, a kitchen, and interior and exterior lounging and dining space. Deluxe Two-Bedroom Residences are larger in size and offer the same as above with even more space. Four-Bedroom Ocean View penthouse-style duplex apartments feature living and dining areas, furnished terraces, two master bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, two twin bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms, and a kitchen.
Dining by the Sea
The Hemingways Bar offers views of the Indian Ocean and Watamu Beach, along with a wine and spirit list and tropical cocktails. The Gede Café provides a casual setting with homemade pastas, pizzas, tasting platters, grilled seafood and steaks, and sandwiches and wraps. The Gede menu is available in the Bar. Our Chefs use fresh local produce. Fish and seafood arrive each morning off the boats, honey arrives by dugout canoe from Mida Creek and our local markets let us choose the tastiest of fruits and vegetables.
Activities and Relaxation
Guests can access the botanical pool. The Spa at Hemingways Watamu provides facial and body treatments, incorporating Terres D'Afrique products and locally sourced ingredients. The gym is equipped with cardio-vascular workout machines and free weights. Tennis gear is provided; play in the early morning or after sunset under the floodlights. Hemingways Watamu organizes deep sea fishing and humpback whale watching excursions. The Malindi Watamu National Marine Park and Reserve are ideal for watching dolphins. A wooden walkway leads to wooden shelters at the Crab Shack at Dabaso fish landing site, overlooking the birdlife of Mida Creek.
Location and Access
Hemingways Watamu is on Watamu Beach, 25 km from Malindi. Watamu is 120 km north of Mombasa. The hotel is situated in the Watamu Marine National Park. The nearest airport is in Malindi (30 minutes by road), and the nearest international airport is Moi International in Mombasa. Nearby landmarks include Seven Islands Resort (3 km), Bio-Ken Snake Farm (3 km), and Mida Creek (2.5 km).
