Art and Leisure
Hotel Hanasaari promotes interest in language and culture through courses in neighboring languages and short stays in Nordic countries. The building, designed by architect Veikko Malmio, is an international modern rationalist style. The Art Park at Hanaholmen stretches around the walkway between the building and the sea, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy Nordic art in an outdoor environment. The Picture Park features sculptures by artists such as Kaarina Kaikkonen, Anna Uddenberg, Jeppe Hein, and Børre Sæthre. The art is planned in the building at an early stage, before technical solutions are planned. Hanaholmen's art collection reflects trends in Swedish and Finnish visual arts from the early 1970s. A compact way to explore Hanaholmen's activities and history is spiced up with a few carefully selected specialities from the art collection. The collection also includes donations as well as a medal collection that mostly has been added since 1975.
Location and Access
Hotel Hanasaari is located in Espoo, just outside Helsinki. It is 1 km from Koivusaaren asema, 9 km from Leppävaara and 30 km from Vantaa. Nearby landmarks include the Didrichsen Art Museum (2.5 km), Tapiola Church (2 km), Hanasaari (1 km), The Finnish Toy Museum Hevosenkenka (3 km), Espoo City Museum KAMU (3 km), Isosaari (2 km), and The Finnish Museum of Horology (3 km).
Meetings and Seminars
Hanaholmen organizes politically, economically, and educationally relevant seminars where academics, teachers, politicians, and other experts discuss current social issues. It also arranges seminars about present-day science, politics, and economics. The venue and the format mean that Swedish and Finnish representatives can exchange knowledge and ideas in confidence. The High-Level Forum is to discuss observations and recommendations that arose during the course. Capacity not needed for bilateral or Nordic activities is sold to external clients. Sustainable Cities in the Nordic-Baltic Region is an intensive course and competition focusing on urban planning issues. A large part of the education for Swedish teachers is arranged within the framework of the Svenska nu network, administered by Hanaholmen. Arctic Lead is a great opportunity to meet and network with young professionals from different fields. The programme is aimed at key persons involved in strategic decision-making, from different sectors and who handle civil crisis preparedness and protection.
“Nestled on the sea, this hotel provides a tranquil escape with art-filled spaces and a commitment to sustainability; its architecture blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, setting the stage for a peaceful retreat near Helsinki. The sauna and sea access stand out, and dining emphasizes local flavors. In my opinion, it's a unique blend of culture and relaxation.”
