Acceptable Location, Noticeable Issues

musty odor basement room

The location was convenient, situated right across from the beach.

The room felt damp, and there was a musty odor. I was placed in a basement room, but I felt they could have given me a room on an upper floor. They contacted me later to charge a tourist tax they had forgotten initially. They could have just given me a discount.

the staff were very friendly and helpful. they gave us a little gift to celebrate our wedding anniversary, very kind and thoughtful. the room and bathroom were very nice. good a/c, i was grateful for it.

i found the hotel noisy with very loud closing doors, though this isn't really a fault of the hotel. what i did find upsetting was management gave a non employee a pass key to all the rooms. it was given out for a medical emergency but the person entered our room mistakenly not once but twice in the middle of the night.
