Unique Rooms

Carlton Arms Hotel, also known as Artbreak Hotel or Ye Olde Carlton Arms Hotel, has 54 rooms across five stories. Every room and all available spaces feature art from artists worldwide. Rooms offer air conditioning, a private entrance, a wardrobe, and carpeted floors. Rooms have options for private or shared bathrooms. Shared bathrooms include sinks, with separate toilet and shower rooms on each floor. Rooms with private bathrooms offer bathtubs with showers. Room 2A features an early mural by Colette Jennings. Room 10B was created by Jim Bilgere in 2005, and room 6A features a mural by Emil Tibell. Room 12D contains a detail by Jackie Levitt & Jonah Kamphorts from 2004. Room 1A, created in 2006 by the hotel crew, features an original mural by Thais Charbonnet. Musician Lord Fascinator took over room 14D to create a physical manifestation of his subconscious. The hotel does not provide TVs or phones in the rooms, but two phones are available in the lobby.

Dining

The hotel does not have room service. Shake Shack is nearby, providing milkshakes and burgers until late in the evening.

Leisure and Entertainment

The Artbreakhotel Gallery is onsite. The Carlton Arms Art Project hosts artists in its residency program, running for over 35 years. The Artbreak gallery presents exhibitions. Past exhibitions include VISCERA by Alex Wolkowicz, HYBRID by Heather Gabel, and 'Ghosts' by Helen Oliver Adelson. In conjunction with the NYC Armory Art Show, the hotel opens new rooms for viewing. I really enjoyed the art and murals throughout this hotel. it was fun seeing all the unique details in the room, including the bathroom. i especially loved the friendly cat. It. its location is also terrific and allows access to a lot of places.

the hotel faces a pedestrian area and is near grocery stores. many main tourist attractions are within walking distance. it is also near public transportation!

there is a delicious chinese restaurant located just below the hotel, i definitely took advantage. a lot of places to eat in the surrounding area too! it is all very accessible.

check in was easy and quick. location is AMAZING. i was able to leave my bags there for a couple hours after check out, that helps a LOT.

the cleaning in the shared restrooms was not good. there was only one restroom per floor, this made me and my wife go up and down the stairs to find a vacant one. our room was right next to the stairs, i kept hearing everyone go up and down the stairs ALL the time.
