A Mountain Getaway
Ouray, known as 'The Switzerland of America,' is a classic Colorado mountain town surrounded by the rocky peaks of the San Juan Mountains. Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs is a Victorian-style hotel dating back to 1959. The hotel, located at a quiet end of the road near the entrance of Box Canyon, maintains its historic charm in keeping with Ouray's Victorian architecture. The medicinal mineral hot springs percolate out of the hillside behind the hotel, captured in seven red cedar tubs. Montrose Regional Airport is 70 km away. Guests can settle into historic mountain lodge guest rooms with tongue-in-groove paneling, marble vanity sinks, and countertops. Each room includes a flat-screen satellite TV with a DVD player and heating and air conditioning. Guests enjoy amenities such as a combo shower/tub, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, a personal safe, and WiFi. Single Queen rooms, located in the southwest building, offer privacy and access to hiking trails in the box canyon. Double Queen rooms accommodate up to four guests and offer views of the surrounding environment. The main attraction is the four outdoor hot tubs with natural thermal waters terraced on the mountainside. The redwood hot tubs are located on multi-level decks that offer views of the towering mountain peaks. The lobby features a stone fireplace and exposed pine wood.
