Yumotokan features guest rooms with an en-suite open-air bath. These include 11 Kotone rooms, the special suite Akane-no-Ma on the 10th floor of the Gesshin building, and 10 rooms in Hanare Karoi. Room options include: double rooms (with one bed), twin rooms (with two beds), triple rooms (with three beds) and family rooms. Amenities across room types include: air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, tea and coffee facilities, a sitting area, a safe deposit box, tatami (woven-straw) seating areas, and city views. Onsite Restaurant
Guests can dine on chef's special breakfast, made with local ingredients from Omi. Enjoy a baby leaf salad from contracted farms, served with the head chef's sweet corn dressing. Breakfast ingredients include soy sauce-simmered goby from Lake Biwa, vegetables from local farms, and dried whitebait with Japanese pepper. The property offers a Michelin 1 Star eel specialty restaurant on the streets of Gion. Guests can enjoy enjoyable meals, including Kyoto-style kaiseki of 10 dishes, featuring Omi beef shabu-shabu, seasonal vegetables, sashimi, mini steaks, and stewed pork blocks with potato. A seasonal limited kaiseki of 10 dishes includes 3 main dishes prepared using seasonal and local ingredients.
Hot Spring and Scenery
Guests can feel the change of four seasons with all five senses in the hot spring bath. The rooftop open-air bath and the 5th floor garden open-air bath rotate between being open for women and men. A private bathroom includes a bathtub made of Cypress wood filled with hot water from the local hot spring. Guests who drink plain hot water and detox by perspiring thoroughly in the hot spring may feel light.
Location and Access
Yumotokan is 70 km from Itami Airport. Guests coming from the Kobe, Osaka or Takatsuki areas and using the JR Kosei Line Special Rapid train are advised to get off at Hieizan-Sakamoto Station, which is one station before Ogoto-Onsen Station. Nearby landmarks include: Ritsuin Temple (3 km), Hiyoshi Taisha (3 km), Saikyoji (2.5 km), Okuhiei Driveway (2.5 km), Raigo-ji Temple (2 km), O'pal (1 km), Lake Biwa (3 km), Anoshuzumi Stone Wall (3 km), and Kyu Chikurinin Garden (3 km).
Tours and Activities
The property offers a course that goes around to various tourist sites in Kyoto. It also offers a recommended course for seeing views of historic shrines and temples spanning from Shiga to Kyoto. Guests may visit Kompon Chu-do, located on the east side, which is the largest and also the main hall of the whole temple. Hiei is in this garden museum that recreates the scenery and gardens used as motifs for works of art created by French impressionist painters. A thick brick aqueduct, constructed during the Meiji period in order to pipe water to Kyoto from Lake Biwa, runs through the temple grounds. The beautiful Inari mountain path connects Fushimi Inari and is suitable for a stroll. Guests can climb the torii lined path for a view out over Kyoto from the summit.
