You Le Yuen is housed in a restored 2-story colonial pre-war shop-house. The indoor courtyard has a retractable pergola, a linear pond, and a potpourri of foliage. Salvaged materials are used throughout, including timbre louvered windows, floral glass pulley lamps, old copper light switches, and terra cotta Marseille roof tiles. The hotel features Peranakan and mid-century art decor furniture and oil paintings depicting Penang street life.

You Le Yuen is located on Love Lane, within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, surrounded by restored historical buildings. It is near Cheung Fatt Tze Mansion, Little India, Fort Cornwallis, and The Goddess of Mercy temple. Penang International Airport is 20 km away. The Rapid Penang Central Area Transit (CAT) Free Shuttle Bus stops at Lebuh Farquhar and Love Lane. Rapid Penang Bus No. 11, 101, 104, 201, 202, 203, U204, and 206 stop at Lebuh Chulia.
