The Theatre Royal Hotel, located 25 km from Greymouth, is the West Coast's only fully restored gold miners' hotel and former theatre. The hotel features six ensuite themed rooms, blending Victorian decor, antique furnishings, and modern amenities. Each room is named after a historical figure connected to the hotel's past, such as Annie Anderson's Room. Some options include replica Miners Cottages to suit every budget. There are rooms in the Old Bank of New Zealand including the Seddon and Queen Victoria Suites. Standard check in time is 2.00pm although you are welcome to store your luggage at the hotel if you arrive prior to 2.00pm.

The restaurant and bar are open 7 days a week, offering West Coast hospitality. The chefs prioritize fresh, local produce in their dishes. Guests can have an elegant afternoon High Tea at the hotel. Last orders for dining are at 7.30pm.

The Theatre Royal Hotel welcomes history buffs, explorers, and cyclists. Kumara is located on the West Coast Wilderness cycle trail. The hotel provides packed lunches and lockable bike sheds. Bike hire, shuttles, and luggage transfers are arranged through partner cycle companies for self-guided & supported tours on the West Coast Wilderness Trail & Nelson's Great Taste Trail. Space is available for a small band in the main bar.

Located on the west coast of the south island, the hotel is a stopping point on the way to Arthurs Pass. It is near iconic West Coast attractions. The Theatre Royal Hotel is located halfway between Greymouth and Hokitika. Northbound takes you to Punakaiki pancake rock formations and Kahurangi National Park. Southbound takes you to Franz Josef, Fox Glacier & Haast World Heritage Area.
