SHIROIYA HOTEL features 28 guest rooms across the Heritage Tower and the Green Tower. Each room is a private museum, showcasing different artists. The Jasper Morrison Room features a wood-paneled bedroom, stone-clad bathroom, and cypress soaking tub, without a television. The Sou Fujimoto Room includes lush ficus leaves and a color palette of white and gray, also without a television. The Leandro Erlich Room includes brass pipes around the room, from the furniture to the bathroom accessories, also without a television. Select rooms include free toiletries, bathrobes, air conditioning, a wardrobe, a safe deposit box, and an electric kettle. The spacious junior suite on the top floor of the Heritage Tower is 57 square meters, features a balcony overlooking the atrium and Leandro Erlich's 'Lighting Pipes' installation, original artworks by Hiraku Suzuki and Mineki Murata, and a free-standing bathtub.
Dining Experiences
The hotel offers multiple dining options. The RESTAURANT, featured in the Gault & Millau guide for four years, offers Chef Hiro Katayama's course menu with local ingredients. The LOUNGE offers breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea under the atrium. The BAR MATCHA-TEI serves exclusive whiskeys and seasonal cocktails. Blue Bottle Coffee Shiroiya Cafe provides coffee drinks, sweets, and snacks, along with Yoshio Shirakawa's 'Dragon God of Mount Akagi' artwork. The BAKERY prepares bread and pastries, including pain de mie and croissants. The PÂTISSERIE offers tarts and baked goods.
Sauna and Wellness
The hotel has a Finnish sauna in the Green Tower, equipped with self-pour löyly and a cold plunge bath. Guests can reserve the sauna for private use. The hotel also features a bedroom sauna, 'Room 37', which includes a double bed-sized sauna bench and a chilled shower. A herbal mist sauna provides a steam of medicinal herbs.
Location and Access
SHIROIYA HOTEL is located in Maebashi. It is a 15-minute walk or 5-minute taxi ride from Maebashi Station on the JR Ryomo Line. From Tokyo to Takasaki by Joetsu / Hokuriku Shinkansen: Approximately 50 minutes, then Takasaki to Maebashi: Approximately 15 minutes on the JR Ryomo Line. The hotel is approximately 15 minutes from Maebashi IC on the Kanetsu Expressway. Nearby landmarks include Hirosegawa Museum (0.5 km), Arts Maebashi (0.3 km), and Gumma Prefectural Office Building Obserbation Deck (1 km). The hotel offers access to Mizuho Bank Maebashi Branch Underground Parking Lot for free parking from 3:00 p.m. on the day you check in to 12:00 noon the following day.
Leisure and Activities
The hotel offers an art lounge and activities. Guests can enjoy free drinks at the ART LOUNGE from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. twice daily. 'Lighting Pipes' artwork changes color at 9:00 p.m. The hotel offers a tea ceremony experience and a tweed kimono experience.
