Transportation options from San Jose Airport include public buses, private taxis, and rental cars. Travel time from the airport is approximately 2 hours to Puntarenas, 1 hour on the ferry, and 1.5 hours from Paquera to Santa Teresa. Cars can be rented at San José, Liberia, and Tambor airports. A direct bus runs twice daily from the San Jose bus terminal to Mal Pais.
