Santa Irini Retreat, Thirasia
About the Hotel
Suites and Villa
Santa Irini Retreat offers a traditional house developed into 4 suites and 4 master bedrooms, each featuring a private lounge. Two traditional basement rooms provide natural breeze and light. The villa includes six bathrooms with showers, a traditional kitchen that doubles as a dining room, and an interior yard with a view of the Santorini caldera. A swimming pool is accessible, and a young vineyard surrounds the property. One suite is accessible to people with disabilities. Each suite and basement room is named after people who inspired the owners: Margarita, Avgi, Theodossia, Efterpi, Sophia, and Nikos. Some suites feature air conditioning, a private entrance, a sitting area, and a terrace.
Aegean Cuisine
The kitchen features a pergola-covered exterior yard with views of Santorini, the caldera, and the Agia Irini church. The retreat's vegetable garden provides fresh local ingredients for meals cooked in the traditional wood oven. Cooking lessons are held at the central table under the pergola, with a view of the caldera. Guests can pair meals with local wines from Therasia, Santorini, and Peloponnese vineyards. The traditional Aegean cuisine addresses all dietary habits. Traditional food from the vegetable garden is prepared using fresh ingredients.
Activities & Relaxation
Guests can follow the rhythm of terraces supported by volcanic lava stone walls, and explore vineyards, fields with wild cactuses, hills, and canyons leading to cave houses, wineries, churches, and monasteries crafted by local artists. The swimming pool is accessible to disabled people and offers views of the caldera, the villages of Oia and Fira, and the islands of Ios, Sikinos, and Folegandros. Yoga and wellness retreats are available. The Agia Irini church, completed in 1867, is located within the retreat's estate. The sun sets in the courtyard of the estate.
Island Exploration
Santa Irini Retreat is located on the quiet greek island of Therasia, opposite Santorini. The miniature harbor of Riva is a 10-minute boat ride from Ammoudi in Oia. Therasia has a population of 180 inhabitants and remains untouched by time. The church of Agia Irini, completed in 1867, is within the retreat's estate. The island of Santorini supposedly owes its name to this church.
