Rooms at Pirate Cove
Pirate Cove provides cabins, bungalows, standard rooms with air conditioning, and deluxe cabins. Cabins and bungalows feature private bathrooms with hot water showers and ceiling fans. Each has a small balcony with a hammock. Bungalows have a double bed and a single bed; some can accommodate an extra single bed. Cabins offer queen-sized beds and two or three single beds, remodeled bathrooms, and a terrace with a hammock and table with chairs. Deluxe cabins include a queen-sized bed, a sitting area with a sofa bed, large bathrooms and terraces, and air conditioning. Air-conditioned rooms, located on the second floor of the main building, include pine cladding and private bathrooms. Each room has garden views.
Dining at Pirate Cove
The hotel serves buffet breakfasts with fresh fruits, homemade bread, fresh juices, Costa Rican coffee, gallo pinto, cheese, milk, cereal, and eggs. Drinks and freshly prepared snacks are available in the late afternoon.
Activities and Amenities
Guests have access to Wi-Fi, 24-hour electricity, laundry service, and kayaks for river use. Pirate Cove offers scuba diving tours to Caño Island with PADI-certified professionals, including lunch at the hotel. Snorkeling is available near the beach. Other tours include Corcovado National Park, mangrove cruises on the Sierpe River, dolphin and whale watching, bird watching, night tours, and kayaking. Caño Divers, Pirate Cove's sister company, handles diving tours. Guests can explore Isla del Caño, known for marine species similar to the Galapagos Islands.
Location and Transport
Pirate Cove is located on the Osa Peninsula in the South Pacific area of Costa Rica, 5 km from Aeropuerto de Bahia Drake. The hotel is near Drake Trail, Naturaseekers, Playa Las Caletas, Drake Bay, Playa Colorada, and Rio Agujitas. Transportation options include flights from San Jose directly to Drake Bay, or driving with a four-wheel drive vehicle (7 hours from San Jose). Buses from San Jose to Palmar Norte are available via TRACOPA, followed by a taxi to Sierpe and a boat to Drake Bay.
Services at Pirate Cove
Pirate Cove supports sustainable tourism and protects the environment. The hotel recycles waste, uses four-stroke motors for boats to minimize water pollution, and composts organic material for gardens. Water comes from mountain streams and is filtered. The hotel participates in the Blue Flag Program, working to maintain beach quality. Pirate Cove donates to local schools and supports the Chamber of Tourism of Osa. Employees are insured through the Instituto Nacional de Seguros and the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social. The hotel recognizes the best worker every three months.
