Rooms and Amenities

John Yancey Oceanfront Inn provides rooms to accommodate families, couples, and groups. Select rooms in the Main Building offer efficiencies with kitchenettes. All remodeled rooms include a 43" Smart TV, new furniture, new LVT flooring, and tile walk-in showers or tubs. The spacious double room features air conditioning, a coffee machine, a balcony with sea views as well as a private bathroom boasting a shower. The unit has 1 bed. Some 1st-floor hotel rooms have ground-level terraces for beach access, with private terraces facing the dunes. Guests enjoy views from the Penthouse 1-bedroom suite. These rooms allow parking outside for easy beach gear access. Sea Building hotel rooms sit without obstructing dunes to the Nags Head beach.

Guests at John Yancey Inn enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast in the main building, opposite the poolside front lobby entrance. The property features an updated breakfast room with new interior finishings. Nearby restaurants are available.

John Yancey Inn is an oceanfront venue. Guests enjoy easy beach access, the pool, picnic/BBQ area, and playground. A 400-square-foot oceanfront dune deck with picnic tables also makes a gathering spot in high season. Other leisure options include jet skiing, parasailing, boating, windsurfing, surfing, and sailing available on the Albemarle Sound. Guests can also use the Outer Banks YMCA, located a few minutes' drive away, featuring an indoor pool, seasonal outdoor pool and water park, fitness center, racquetball and basketball courts, exercise classes, a skate park, and free child care. The gardens surrounding the property feature a sunken floral garden and herb, wildflower and rose gardens that surround antique statuary. The Visitor Center features a full-scale replica of the original "Wright Flyer," talks on the history of the Wright Brothers, information services, and exhibits.

“What struck me most was its homey, cottage-like feel right on the oceanfront, offering surprisingly nice side beach views. The updated rooms, especially the efficiencies with kitchenettes, cater well to families needing space and a place to prep snacks. I think easy beach access and free YMCA fitness are huge pluses, making it a standout for active vacationers and those on a budget.”
