Golden Gate Hotel, built in 1913 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, offers several room types. Premium Classic rooms face the back of the hotel and feature a Queen-sized bed, bay windows, a seating area, and a bathroom with a claw-foot tub. European Style rooms are suited to single travelers or couples and include Full-sized beds, a pedestal sink, a private shower, and two robes; a shared full bathroom is located down the hall. Basic Rooms, suitable for budget travelers, have either a Full-sized bed or two Twin beds, a robe, and a personal sink with a shared bathroom down the hall. Room 407 has a Queen-sized bed, a wood wardrobe, an antique vanity, and a bathroom with a 'pillbox' toilet and a walk-in shower. Room 507 includes one Full-size bed and one Single bed, fitting up to three adults with the bathroom down the hall shared with Room 506. Two rooms with an interconnecting door: Room 306 with a Queen bed and a private bathroom and Room 305 with two Twin beds sharing Room 306's bathroom. Each room includes Heating and Wi-Fi. Free toiletries are provided.

Guests at Golden Gate Hotel enjoy complimentary baked goods daily in the front parlor from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. A custom blended Breakfast at Tiffany's loose-leaf tea from Leland Tea Company is offered. Coffee is a Mocha Java medium roast, blended from washed Ethiopian Sidama and wet-processed Indonesian. Orange juice and croissants from local bakery Bakers of Paris are also served. The hotel features a vintage birdcage elevator connecting the four floors, and historical photographs line the halls. Guests may use safe flame-free candles, available at the front desk, to create ambiance in their room.

Located north of Union Square on Nob Hill, Golden Gate Hotel is a few blocks from Chinatown and steps from the Powell/Mason & Powell/Hyde cable-car stop. Landmarks nearby include Union Square (0.5 km), Fisherman's Wharf (2 km), and the Cable Car Museum (1 km).

The front desk is open daily from 7 am to 11 pm. The hotel applies an amenity fee of $20/night, which includes high-speed Wi-Fi, access to a water station, and a glass of wine and breakfast buffet at Jeanne D'arc, located at the sister property, Cornell Hotel. Housekeeping staff will enter daily for guests staying more than one night to freshen bathrooms, empty trash cans, and make the bed, unless the 'Do Not Disturb' sign is displayed. Pet fee is $25/night with a maximum of 2 well-behaved dogs (under 40lbs total) allowed per room.
