Hotel Gutkowski, comprised of 26 rooms, occupies two buildings that once housed fishermen and craftsmen. Each room has unique features, reflecting its position in the property. Rooms include a private bathroom with free toiletries, a wardrobe, a safe box, a minibar, an LCD TV with satellite channels, a telephone, and a desk. Basic rooms feature windows facing the inner court or the alleys of Ortygia. Guests appreciate the exposed limestone walls and wattle and daub ceilings.
Sicilian Cuisine
The onsite restaurant serves modern Sicilian cuisine from 7 PM to midnight, with a daily changing menu. Young Sicilian chef Santo Lo Castro prepares fresh fish and seasonal vegetables. Traditional dishes such as linguine alla Siracusana, with anchovies, breadcrumbs, pinenuts, and raisins, are available. Breakfast is served every morning from 7:30 to 10:15 and features local and organic products, such as orange juice (winter) and almond milk and granitas (summer). Freshly made ricotta, local honey, homemade yogurt and jams, and cakes made by reception manager Giancarlo are also featured.
Terraces and Lounges
Hotel Gutkowski offers terraces overlooking the sea with views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. Several decorated lounge areas provide space to relax. Guests can use the hotel's bicycles. During summer, granita is offered for free on the big terrace facing the sea every day at 5 PM.
Central Syracuse location
Hotel Gutkowski is on Lungomare di Levante, a promenade on the waterfront of Ortygia, the historical center of Syracuse. It's near the historic Bulwark, which protects the island from the sea, and a few minutes' walk from the morning fruit, vegetable, and fish market and the Graziella Quarter. Cheap parking is available in the Talete car park. The hotel also provides restored houses in the neighborhood for self-catering.
