Flame Tree Cottages, since 2004, offers individually decorated cottages with Swahili wood furniture, Zanzibari beds, and antique pieces. Each air-conditioned room features a spacious veranda, ensuite bathroom with shower, fridge, and Wi-Fi. Room options include Twin Rooms with two single beds, Double Rooms with one double bed (17m2), Triple Rooms with three single beds (31m2), and King Rooms with a king-size bed (20m2). The Honeymoon Suite (42m2) has a king-size bed and two couches that convert to beds, plus a sitting room. Two-Bedroom Family Cottages (23m2) have a king-size bed in one room and twin beds in the other. Quad Cottages (26m2) feature four single beds, with an option to combine two into a double. Cottages also include a private entrance, outdoor dining area, kettle, and toaster. Bathrooms include free toiletries. Some rooms include a sitting area, terrace, and garden furniture.
Dining Options
Flame Tree Cottages features a beachfront restaurant that serves traditional Swahili dishes, European dishes, fresh seafood, and vegetarian and vegan options. Guests can have lunch by the pool, on their veranda, in the beach pavilion, or in the garden restaurant. A complimentary breakfast with tea or coffee is served daily on each room's veranda. Romantic dinners are available with a table set near the sea with candles.
Leisure and Activities
Flame Tree Cottages provides a garden pool for guests. Nungwi offers beaches and dive sites. Activities include snorkeling tours to Mnemba, sunset sails on a traditional dhow, and scuba diving. The Levan Bank dive site features big game fish like kingfish, trevally, and tuna. Guests can walk to the Ras Nungwi Lighthouse or explore the Fukuchani Ruins and caves, about 15 minutes south of Nungwi, where there is also a natural pool with submerged stalagmites. Guests can also discover the life of Nungwi villagers, the fish market and also different workshops of the local craftsmen. Guests might see green sea turtles laying their eggs on the beaches.
