Tent cabins along the Big Sur River include bunk beds, with guests providing their own sleeping bags and pillows. Campsites offer a fire pit, a picnic table, and nearby restrooms with hot showers. RV campsites provide utility pedestals with water and 30-amp electric hookups.
Onsite Tavern & Grill
The Tavern Bar & Grill offers a menu to accompany your Big Sur adventure, complemented by craft cocktails and cold brews. Fernwood's Tavern Bar & Grill features live bands most Saturday nights, game nights, and karaoke. The Calendar of Events lists music festivals that bring concerts to the campground. A back deck is available for lunch and dinner under redwood trees. The General Store provides road snacks, groceries, beer, wood, and ice. Espresso drinks from Carmel Valley Roasting Company and Lappert's Super Premium Ice Cream are also available.
Leisure and Activities
Guests at Fernwood Resort have direct access to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and the Big Sur River for swimming. Buzzard's Roost Trail, accessible from the resort, offers views of the coastline. Five State Parks, a State Reserve, and Los Padres National Forest each have unique hiking trails. Other activities include beach hiking, redwood canyon hikes, and river hiking. Fernwood also hosts yoga classes near redwood trees.
Location and Access
Fernwood Resort is in the middle of the Big Sur Valley, 55 km from Monterey Peninsula. It borders Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and offers direct access to hiking trails. The entrance to the Old Coast Road for mountain biking is directly across Highway 1 from Andrew Molera State Park. Garrapata State Park is between Andrew Molera State Park to the south and Point Lobos State Reserve to the north. Point Sur Lighthouse is about 7 miles north.

The resort is committed to accessibility, with wheelchair-accessible facilities including the restaurant, general store, and campground public restrooms. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Check-in for campsites is from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. For motel, cabins, and adventure tents, check-in is from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Pets are allowed in the Campground, RV camping, and Tent Cabins; however, they are not permitted in the Motel, Cabins, and Adventure Tents.
