Essque Zalu Zanzibar has 40 Suites and 8 Residences, ranging from three to four bedrooms. All have views of the Indian Ocean or the tropical gardens from a balcony or terrace. They include Swahili touches like wooden chests and beamed ceilings. The oceanfront suites are in two-story buildings, while the Garden View suites are set back into the gardens. The main Market Kitchen restaurant serves à la carte meals, including waffles and chocolate crepes at breakfast, and fragrant curries, fresh fish, and Italian-style desserts in the evening. Guests can learn Swahili cooking at the Maisha Cookery Studio, which features five live cooking stations centered around communal learning.

Essque Zalu Zanzibar is on the northernmost tip of Zanzibar, near the village of Nungwi, 65 km from Kisauni Airport. It sits on a rocky natural cove overlooking a tidal beach that is least affected by Zanzibar's tides. Landmarks nearby include Mnarani Marine Turtles Conservation Pond (1 km) and Nungwi Marine Turtles Mnarani (1 km).
