Activities and Tours
Cabinas Jimenez arranges various tours, including bird watching, waterfall rappelling, horseback riding, kayaking, and guided tours to Corcovado National Park. The La Sirena boat is available for dolphin and whale watching tours. Kayak excursions through the mangroves are also offered. Other tours include canopy zip-lining, visits to Cabo Matapalo, surfing at Playa Pavones, and visits to the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary. Horseback riding tours and sport fishing charters are available. Guests can also visit Caimans and Crocodiles near the hotel.
Location and Access
Cabinas Jimenez is on the Gulfo Dulce in Puerto Jimenez, near Corcovado National Park. The Osa Peninsula is known for pristine beaches and virgin forests. Corcovado National Park is accessible by hiking from Carate or by boat from Drake's Bay, with guided tours required. To reach the park, one can hike from Carate (8 hours) to La Sirena Ranger Station, passing La Leona Ranger Station (1 hour from Carate). Bus departs daily from Transportes Blanco in San Jose, next to the Bus terminal 'San Carlos'. The bus station in Puerto Jimenez is 4 blocks from Cabinas Jimenez. One can also reach the Osa Peninsula via boat from Golfito.
Corcovado National Park
Corcovado National Park is accessible with a guide for day or overnight hikes. La Sirena Ranger Station is the only place offering overnight lodging (dorm-style with shared facilities, mattresses, linens, and mosquito nets). Park entrance tickets must be purchased in advance. From Carate, it is around 3.5 km to La Leona Ranger Station, the entrance to Corcovado National Park. Sirena Ranger Station is not accessible for day hikes from Puerto Jimenez.
