Recreation: Base for hiking and 4-wheel drive exploring

“Panamint Springs strikes me as a solid choice for a Death Valley trip on a budget. The location itself is excellent, particularly for exploring the park's west side, and the restaurant seems to be a highlight-good food and wine with a view; hard to argue with that combination after a long day.”
