The Mornington Hotel is often praised for its great location, a short walk to both the town centre and the beach, with a park conveniently located across the road. Many guests enjoy the breakfast, which includes items like croissants, cereal, yogurt, and homemade marmalade, catering to various dietary needs with options for lactose and gluten intolerance. Some guests have noted that the style is a bit old school. Several rooms are considered spacious, with some featuring four-poster beds, adding to the hotel's character.

adequate stay, some drawbacks

great locationfriendly staffseventies time warpelectrical socket
the staff were friendly and cute. the hotel is in a great location near many shops. i appreciated having a hair dryer and toiletries since i was travelling with just a backpack. breakfast was lovely with a good choice and plenty of food.
i felt the hotel seemed stuck in a seventieth time warp. there was a lack of electrical sockets anywhere close to our beds, a real inconvenience! in the bathroom the shelf was at the other end of the room from the sink, with the shower in between. also, the toilet wouldn't flush from time to time

a amazing experience

the greeting upon arrival felt professional. the hosts supplied lots of information. my double bedroom included a four poster bed. the room felt spacious, well maintained AND cleaned daily. the hotel interior was well maintained and complemented the décor.
i did feel some of the décor seemed outdated. there's just TOO much memorabilia in the bar AND tv room. i believe it could do with a slight refresh.

splendid stay!

wonderful hostsgreat locationshort walk
I found the hosts, christina and philip, to be cute! the location is really convenient. It's just a short walk to restaurants and shops. plus, howard davis park sits right across the street (making for a lovely view!).
The bathroom lacked shelving. It made organizing toiletries a slight challenge, even though it was very clean.
Service

The staff demonstrated excellent customer awareness. I needed to extend my stay because of travel issues and the team promptly prepared my room upon my early arrival, a really appreciated thing. i also received helpful taxi planning assistance. the early breakfast option was very handy.

The breakfast menu included a generous selection of options and unlimited juice and coffee.
The room felt outdated with decor that seemed untouched since the 1970s. The noise was quite disruptive due to thin single-glazed windows. Traffic sounds and pedestrian chatter were easily heard. The light from dawn also made it difficult to sleep past 5:30 AM because the window blinds were thin.

Acceptable Stay with Some Drawbacks

good locationdated roomstuck thermostat knob
The location was good for accessing the town centre and bus station easily.
The room felt dated. It resembled something from the 1970s. I had difficulty closing the curtains as they were off the track. the shower temperature was only lukewarm, I couldn't adjust it due to a stuck thermostat knob.
