Faith and History
The hotel has four mosaic chapels in Duc In Altum, each designed to accommodate 30 people and features mosaics illustrating events from Jesus' public life around the Sea of Galilee. Guests can walk on original first-century flooring in Magdala's ancient port marketplace and find details connecting the Christian faith to its Judaic roots as well as to ancient Byzantine traditions. The eight pillars are based on a mosaic ring with the same design as the one found in the synagogue symbolizing Christianity's Judaic roots. Volunteers receive training to give guided tours to groups of pilgrims and visitors of the archeological park, Duc In Altum, and other places of interest at Magdala. Details on the columns of the gardens include pieces of pottery found during the excavations of the first century town of Magdala.

Magdala's Themes
The Institute seeks to highlight issues of human dignity - with an emphasis on the dignity of women - and contributions of the feminine genius in both religious history and facets of life today. Themes ranging from philosophical aspects around the formation of feminine identity, and women's identity as presented in the Bible and in the person of Mary Magdalene, to a look at challenges women face in the west and the Middle East will be presented. Pope Francis initiated a 'liturgical upgrade' to offer Mary an honored position among the celebrated apostles in its liturgies. People share stories of very interesting people like an Ironman, a pilgrim girl who arrived after walking nine months from Finisterra/Santiago de Compostella in NW Spain to Jerusalem, a media celebrity, or a person years in a wheelchair and so many regular pilgrims.
