Onsite Dining
The dining room features a vinyl and CD collection owned by Steinar Berg. Guests can relax and listen to some old and new records while having dinner. A Duo serves meals with emphasis on local food, home cooking and world spices.
Activities at Fossatún
Guests can explore the vinyl record collection, visit Trollgarden to learn about folktales, trolls, play troll games, and hike the trails. Other activities include the Troll and Folktale hiking trails and mini golf. Fossatún offers access to Troll Waterfallsand The Troll Stroll and other hikes, such as the Folktale Hike and Nature Walk. Guests can also turn to find the correct letters to form a word starting with TROLL. Twelve comfortable rooms with private bathrooms are available, including nine double rooms and three twin rooms. Twin Pod Cottages have two separate beds for two adults. The campsite features six separate areas surrounded by tree shelter belts. Three of the areas have a gravel base and grass on top. The winner is the person or team that pulls the opponent's knot first to the stone.
Location Details
Fossatún Sunset Cottage is 95 km from Reykjavik. The surrounding scenery includes Lake Blundsvatn and Snæfellsjökull glacier. Troll Waterfalls is 0.5 km away. It is centrally located in the West Region of Iceland for day trips.
Campsite Features
The campsite offers eight separate camping areas surrounded and sheltered by trees. Electrical plugs with either two or three pins are in all areas. Thingvellir National Park, part of the Golden Triangle route, is nearby. Guests can find good basic and reasonably priced accommodation with access to a well-equipped shared kitchen and sanitary facilities.
