Rooms in Monastic Style

Eremito features 12 single rooms patterned after monastic cells. Each room includes an iron-framed bed, a desk made of rock, and a bathroom separated by a sackcloth curtain. Rooms include a desk and either cool tiled or marble floors. Rooms overlook the mountains and garden. Bedding is made of hand-made hemp yarn. Telephones, TVs, and Wi-Fi are not available.

Vegetarian Dining

The restaurant serves vegetarian cuisine with a set menu. Dishes are based on organic produce from the kitchen garden and local farms. Bread, pasta, jams, and cakes are homemade or sourced from local producers. A fixed menu of simple vegetarian dishes inspired by monastic recipes. In winter, meals are served in the refectory with a stone fireplace. In warmer months, outdoor dining is available with views of the woods. The fare served in the restaurant is organic produce either grown in the kitchen garden or local farms. Tastes remind one of Umbrian traditions and small villages built near-by monasteries. Once you 're in the swing of it, expect a simple meal.

Relaxation and Wellness

Eremito features a wellness center with a heated pool and a steam bath. Guests can unwind with soft Gregorian chants. There is a lounge with cushion seating, scatter rugs, and a fire. Natural teas and 'Melemito,' a hot and sweet drink are available. All-inclusive rates include use of the Relax Area. A narrow, up-lit passage leads to a lounge with cushion seating, scatter rugs and a crackling fire.

Location and Transport

Eremito is located in a protected nature reserve in Umbria, 75 km from Sant'Egidio Airport (Perugia). Pick-ups can be arranged from Fabro-Ficulle station, with direct train routes to Rome Termini (1.30 hours) and Florence Santa Maria Novella (1.50 hours). A regional train on the Rome-Florence line is required. Upon exiting the Fabro gate toll, turn left towards Fabro Scalo. After 5 km on road SP 52, a sign for 'La Casella' will appear on the right. Follow this dirt road for 5.5 km alongside the river. After 10 minutes, you will arrive at a square under a huge oak tree, before the bridge on the river. The parking area is located in the valley. A 4x4 transfer is available for the last 700 meters. Monte Nibbio is 4 km away.

Eco-Friendly Services

Eremito is one of the most recognized eco-hotels in the world. The structure uses a thermal coat and local stone cladding. Heating and cooling are provided by an underfloor system powered by a photovoltaic system. Low voltage LED lamps and presence detectors are used in corridors. WC systems have low water consumption. Rainwater is collected for irrigation. The home automation system monitors water and energy consumption. The hotel minimizes waste production, and residual waste is differentiated and composted. Bottled water has been replaced with a reverse osmosis system. Amenities and cleaning products are organic and biodegradable, with refillable containers. Recharging columns with a photovoltaic system are available for guests' electric vehicles.
