Things To Do
The Anchor Inn Hotel & Suites provides access to Twillingate's attractions, including museums in Twillingate and Durrell. Museums bring the history and culture of one of Newfoundland's oldest towns to life. The hotel is near the Long Point Light Station, built in 1876. Twillingate offers boat and kayak tours for coastline exploration and whale/iceberg watching in Notre Dame Bay. The Split Peas, a local Twillingate group of all female entertainers, are celebrating their 27 years of performing together this year. The Gallery has original artwork and reproductions from local artists Carrie Ann Burt, Daniel Anstey, Gilbert Manuel, Anne Sheldon and photographer Charmaine Young. The team at the Anchor Inn Hotel has made a concerted effort to divert waste from the dump in many areas of the business.

Outdoor Activities

There are hiking and walking trails along the coastline and across the cliffs with ocean views. A longer hike of over 6km of rugged coastline lets you view geological formations such as sea stacks and coastal headlands from French Beach to Spiller's Cove. Hike to the Top of Twillingate, which delivers views along the way and at the final lookout point. From a lookout point, thousands of visitors enjoy the panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean with the possibility of viewing icebergs, whales, seals and sea birds.
“The property is ideally positioned for exploring the area, with boat tours for iceberg and whale watching just a short distance away. I think the blend of convenience, with its on-site restaurant and pub, is cleverly complemented by a commitment to showcasing local art. For me, it strikes a good balance for travellers seeking both relaxation and a taste of Newfoundland culture.”
