Dining experience
The dining room, located in the heart of Llys Meddyg, overlooks the garden and the wood-fired kitchen. It features intimate tables for couples, families, and friends. The 3-course dinner menu includes local, traditional produce, like home-smoked salmon and seasonal vegetables. The Cellar Bar serves drinks and can accommodate groups of up to sixteen, with fireside tables for two. All food and drink must be purchased from Llys Meddyg; corkage rates are £15.00 per bottle of Prosecco and Champagne. The chefs create a menu that reflects the best of the season and the locale, like Solva crab with confit yoke, pickled kohlrabi and coriander and sirloin of Dexter beef with wild garlic and pennywort.
Foraging and Relaxation
Llys Meddyg offers half-day hedgerow and seashore foraging courses in the immediate area, which conclude with a casual lunch in the garden or on the beach. The Kitchen Garden provides a space to focus on the matter at hand. A midweek coastal break allows time to explore this part of Wales.
Location and surroundings
Llys Meddyg is in the coastal town of Newport, 100 km from Swansea. Nearby attractions include the Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber (4.5 km), Iron Age Fort (5.5 km), Newport Sands (2.5 km), and Nevern Castle (2.5 km). Guests can walk a circular route around Dinas Island, stopping at The Old Sailors in Pwll Gwaelod for refreshments. The coastal path leads to the old industrial harbor of Porthgain. Solva Harbour, with its shops and galleries, is nearby.
Hotel Style
The look combines rural Wales and urban sophistication, with art, muted greys, greens, charcoals, local slate, and reclaimed wood. Originals and prints by local artists like John Knapp-Fisher, Peter Daniels, Linda Norris, and Graham Hurdwood adorn the walls, along with ceramics by Adam Buick. The oldest part of the building is the low-ceilinged Cellar Bar, dating to the 1500s. The inglenook fireplace features reclaimed wood and subtle lighting.
