The Geysir Glíma Restaurant, designed with inspiration from Icelandic nature, features a soup and salad bar with fish soup, vegetable soup, and Icelandic meat soup. Guests can also sample local rye bread baked in geothermal ground.
Activities and Attractions
Hotel Geysir is near the geothermal area of Geysir and Strokkur in Haukadalur Valley. Strokkur geyser erupts every few minutes. Nearby activities include cycling, hiking, glacier tours on Langjökull glacier, natural hot spring swimming, highland tours, and horseback riding. Staff can assist in booking snowmobile tours, horse rentals, river jet/rafting, and golf. The camping area is a walking distance from the hot springs area and Haukadalur woods. From September to April, the northern lights are visible.
Location and Accessibility
Hotel Geysir is in the historic Haukadalur Valley. It is approximately an hour's drive from Mosfellsbær via Thingvellir National Park and Lyngdalsheidi. Follow Route 37, which becomes Route 35, to reach Geysir; road signs are present. The hotel is close to the Geysir Center, which includes a Geysir design store, souvenir shop, and outdoor clothing store. The geothermal area of Geysir and Strokkur is directly opposite the hotel.
