Rooms at King's Head
The King's Head Inn offers rooms in three accommodation blocks: the Town House (next to the pub) and two stone buildings behind the pub. Rooms feature 28-inch plasma televisions, tea/coffee facilities, and en-suite bathrooms. Some rooms offer sea views, while others have garden or inner courtyard views. Bathrooms include large pale tiles, with showers over baths in most. Each room also has heating, ironing facilities, a sitting area, an electric kettle, and garden furniture.
Dining at King's Head
The King's Head serves food in its olde worlde character bars, which include beams and exposed stone. The food is mostly home-made, using fresh Welsh produce where possible. The pub serves British cooking, such as steak and ale pie using Welsh ale, and beer battered fish with home-made chips. There is a wide variety of curries, including Thai, Indian, and Vietnamese options. The menu includes dishes without gluten, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. Specials include Welsh Lamb or Welsh Venison. Desserts are homemade, and a cheeseboard with Welsh cheeses is available. Breakfast is served between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Leisure and Entertainment
Guests at The King's Head can engage in activities like trail running and rambling along the Gower coastline. The property offers surf lessons with qualified instructors. RipnRock provides activities such as coasteering, gorge walking, canyoning, climbing, and abseiling. There is live music. A surf shop and surf school are in the village. Maps for walking and riding are available. The LC, featuring Wales' biggest indoor water park with pools, rides, and slides, is 20 km away in Swansea.
Location and Transport
The King's Head Inn is located in Llangennith, Gower, opposite the largest church on the Gower peninsula. Swansea is 20 km away. The inn provides access to Llangennith beach, with sand stretching to Rhosilli. The village nestles between three hills: Llanmadoc Hill, Rhossili Down, and Hardingsdown. Pennard Castle is nearby. The National Trust Centre, where the annual Endurancelife event starts, is in Rhossili. The Wales Airshow takes place in Swansea.
Services Offered
The King's Head Inn welcomes dogs and provides dog treats and hampers. A dog menu, including dog ice cream, is available. The beach is dog-friendly year-round. The inn offers surf board storage and car parking. Information about Gower's caves, shipwrecks, and attractions is available. A loyalty card is available for personal use. WSF Surf School provides surf lessons. The inn has alcohol-free drinks, including Heineken 0 on draft.
“I see a property steeped in 17th-century charm, located a stone's throw from Gower's stunning beaches. What stands out to me is the dedication to local sourcing in the kitchen, and the surprisingly dog-friendly atmosphere, complete with a canine menu. From what I gather, it's a place where the community feel is as palpable as the sea breeze.”
