“Ja Mar Hall Scotland presents a curious case: a five-star designation challenged by some experiences, though countered by high praise for the staff and ongoing renovations, especially within the spa. Its setting on a 240-acre estate near Glasgow Airport allows convenient access to both nature and travel, further enhanced by gourmet dining and a championship golf course that show its grand ambitions. The music in the bar was appalling at times.

charming stay near the Clyde

beautiful sitting roomoutdoor patio areaindoor poolcomfortable loungers
My room was beautifully decorated. It included a comfortable sitting room and outdoor patio area with garden furniture (perfect for a morning coffee!). I especially liked using the indoor heated pool in the evening and again in the morning. The pool area had comfortable loungers.
The hotel has ongoing refurbishments, so the reception area was temporarily located in a room off the great hall.

underwhelming stay with notable issues

loud techno musicrotten smelling eggs
i wasn't impressed. the techno music from a wedding was way too loud, bass shaking the room until i complained. dinner was a mess too. many menu items weren't available, like starter and main. it felt a bit like fawlty towers and not a 5-star experience i was expecting. breakfast was a buffet. the scrambled eggs smelled rotten, green eggs. the waitress just removed the plate, didn't seem bothered. i wish they focused on quality food and decent service instead of fancy wallpaper.
