Dining at Coopershill

Classic Irish fine cuisine is served in the grand dining room with silverware and crystal glasses. Guests are seated at individual antique tables set in an original 18th-century grand family dining room. An elegant four-course meal with a choice of starter and main course is served at one sitting at separate tables around 8:00 pm daily. Breakfast includes fresh eggs from neighbor Anne O'Donavan, homemade potato bread, Ballaghaderreen black & white pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, sausages, and bacon from Ballymote award-winning butcher Adrian Sheerin. Freshly farm-pressed apple juice, freshly squeezed orange juice, grapefruit juice, whole kippers, and any combination of a full Irish breakfast are also offered. The menu is dictated by the ripening produce in vegetable and fruit gardens and the recommendations of local butchers and fishmongers.

Leisure and Activities

Scenic walks can be enjoyed through the estate, which includes numerous deer and a croquet lawn. The River Arrow flows through it. Approximately one-third of the estate is woodland, comprising commercial forestry, native woodland, and around the house, 250-year-old oak, beech, horse chestnut, ash, lime, yew, and cedar trees. The river Unshin is a corridor for trout, salmon, perch, and bream from Lough Arrow to the Atlantic. A hill walk becomes an exciting discovery of one of the hundreds of Neolithic tombs carefully aligned to the stars by ancestors 5000 years ago. A video gives a feel for what it is like to come and stay at Coopershill.

Location and Access

Coopershill is an historic family home set in over 500 acres of farmland and woodland in the heart of Co Sligo. Coopershill is a 2.5-hour drive from Shannon, a 2-hour drive from Dublin, and a 40-minute drive from Ireland West Knock. Ireland West Knock is 50 km from Coopershill House. Markree Castle is 5 km away, Markree Observatory is 5 km away, and Riverstown Folk Park is 2 km away. This building stands with sound walls just before the sharp right turn on the avenue, which takes you onto the humpback bridge over the River Unsin. Wildlife, mountains, lakes, and miles of empty beaches make this stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way an adventure playground.
