The trail is a way to explore western North Dakota's scenery on foot, mountain bike or horseback. Killdeer is the hub of Cowboy Country. The Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge is located 20 miles from Stanley, renowned for birding opportunities. Stanley is home to a golf course, bowling alley, swimming pool, theater, parks, historical sites and restaurants. Tobacco Gardens Resort and Marina is in Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River System. Lake Sakakawea is one of the largest man-made lakes in North America.
