Dining at Tai O
The Tai O Lookout restaurant serves both Western and Asian dishes, with ingredients sourced from Tai O. The menu features shrimp paste, Mountain Begonia, salted fish, and preserved eggs. Signature dishes include Tai O Fried Rice with shrimp paste, homemade Pork Chop Bun marinated with Shrimp Paste, and cheesecake with Mountain Begonia. Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, lunch from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, afternoon tea from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, and dinner from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The restaurant features wood-carved furniture previously belonging to China Tee Club.
Leisure and Culture
The hotel organizes and participates in Tai O traditional festivities, including the Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade. Free guided tours are available daily at 3:00 PM, 3:30 PM, and 4:00 PM, lasting 20 minutes. These tours include a video about the Old Tai O Police Station and visits to the former Inspectors' Quarters, Guard Tower, and Heritage Interpretation Centre. The hotel also hosts an Annual Open House to raise awareness on heritage conservation.
Location and Access
Tai O Heritage Hotel is located in New Territories, on Lantau Island. It is a 15-minute ride by all route "S" buses to Tung Chung. Tung Chung MTR Station is accessible by a 50-minute bus ride. From Central Ferry Pier, Hong Kong Island, it takes 50 minutes by bus. From Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, it is a 60-minute ferry ride to Tai O, passing through Tung Chung and Sha Lo Wan. Upon arriving at Tai O Bus Terminus, it is a 2-minute jetboat ride or a 20-minute walk to the hotel. Nearby landmarks include Wisdom Path (6 km), Ling Yan Monastery (2.5 km), and Tian Tan Buddha (5 km).
